I recently rewatched a film Chantal Akerman made while living in New York. In it, we hear the letters her mother sent her from Europe while we see these long, static shots of the city. I thought about how I never really told you things. I’d say: this or that happened, but never: I’m sad, I miss home, I don’t know where I’m going, I’m happy, I’m in love, I love you. I thought about how often you asked me to stay in touch.

A bronze figure declares his love to a woman, Isabel. Isabel recognises her inability to reciprocate this feeling and to surrender to this relationship. This story is staged by a Third Person, in a closed room with no time, in an atmosphere of urgent search for perfection in the performances of the two interpreters. The Third Person is, in turn, observed by a Fourth Person.

In the Darkness is a Super 8 short film that, based on a cinematic diary, delves into the rumors circulating in a small Argentinian town. The images accompany the way in which the gossip is uttered, transformed through word of mouth, and, in its repetition, shapes collective perception.
