Just because you can’t restore a film negative doesn’t mean you can’t breathe new life into it. Which is exactly what Canadian filmmaker Erin Weisgerber has done, using excerpts of films by Alexander Sokurov and Irakli Kvirikadze. Stories of migrations, shifting borders and unstable identities. Given its vibe, this is a film that will appeal to the Boards of Canada fanbase and many others besides.
